Taobao’s Taiwan site, Taobao Tmall Overseas, has announced its collaboration with Jkopay, introducing localized payment services for Taiwanese users. This partnership aims to provide a more convenient payment process for students and users without credit cards. Jkopay is the only electronic payment platform in Taiwan that directly connects with 29 major banks. Through this collaboration, Taobao users can choose Jkopay as a payment method without having to bind a credit card. They can make payments through their bank accounts or top-up methods, allowing university students and others without credit cards to easily shop without paying a 1.5% fee for overseas transactions. Jkopay’s General Manager, Fan Tingzhen, hopes that through Jkopay’s advantage of having a large number of verified users, Taiwanese consumers will be able to use a new payment method on Taobao for cross-border shopping without having to repeatedly enter payment information or undergo identity verification. In addition to avoiding the credit card transaction fee for overseas purchases, users can also accumulate Jkopay coins as rewards.
