Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok has officially expanded to the messaging platform Telegram, allowing “paid subscribers” to interact directly with GrokAI within the application.
The AI chatbot is currently trending towards “multi-platform expansion,” including products like Grok and ChatGPT, which aim to integrate with various new platforms in addition to their original websites or applications, hoping to make AI a “habitual tool” for users.

With Telegram’s user base surpassing one billion, Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok has also expanded to this platform, granting Grok access to a massive user base on Telegram. The Telegram version of Grok is limited to paid subscribers, who can start interacting by searching for “GrokAI” on Telegram. However, certain features, such as “Think” and “DeepSearch,” still require access through X or Grok’s standalone application.
This cross-platform expansion is seen as a key strategy for Grok in its pursuit of becoming the “largest AI chatbot in the world.” Telegram reached the milestone of one billion monthly active users in March this year, making it the third-largest messaging platform globally, behind WhatsApp and WeChat. Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, has emphasized in public speeches that user engagement on the platform has significantly increased, with an average user opening the app 21 times a day and spending about 41 minutes on it.
As the Telegram user base expands, the platform is also starting to offer more possibilities for AI technologies. The addition of Grok transforms Telegram from a purely communication tool into a platform with intelligent features. Although Grok is currently only available to Telegram’s paid members, foreign media predict that this strategy may attract more free users to switch to paid subscriptions, thus increasing Telegram’s revenue.

AI is undergoing a trend of “multi-platform expansion,” with more and more chatbots (such as Grok and ChatGPT) integrating with various new platforms beyond their original ones to expand market influence. For example, OpenAI launched ChatGPT on WhatsApp at the end of 2024, providing voice support services in North America, allowing ChatGPT to compete directly with Meta’s AI assistant.
The goal of such initiatives is to ensure that AI is found by users in various daily applications, becoming a “habitual choice,” and playing a more significant role in messaging, information retrieval, and everyday conversations.
