What happened?
The Worldcoin project “World” has officially entered the U.S. market, opening iris verification points in six major cities, allowing users to obtain a World ID and earn WLD token rewards.
World also announced a partnership with financial giant Visa to launch the “World Card,” enabling users to make purchases using the digital assets in their World App digital wallet.
Additionally, World is collaborating with the dating app Tinder to experiment with identity verification mechanisms in Japan, aiming to enhance trust in the online dating environment.
Worldcoin formally enters the U.S. market
Co-founded by Sam Altman, the Worldcoin project “World” recently released updates on company dynamics and collaborations, announcing the formal establishment of verification points in six major U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco, providing users with the service of scanning their irises to obtain a World ID.
The core of the World project is to allow people worldwide to anonymously “prove they are human” online, rather than being robots or AI. To achieve this, the project has developed a biometrics device called “Orb,” which features a silver spherical design to scan the eye’s iris, create identity verification accounts, and issue the cryptocurrency WLD along with the World ID.
In the latest announcement, World stated that the Orb is a device driven by NVIDIA technology and will be deployed in dedicated scanning areas called “World Spaces,” collaborating with select retailers, such as the esports brand Razer’s stores.
World believes that the U.S. is an ideal environment for introducing digital identity verification tools due to its leadership in the AI field. The company emphasized that its identity verification process protects user privacy while proving the uniqueness of each user. Verified users can also utilize the app’s rich features, including mini-apps for education, finance, and social interaction.

Simultaneously announcing partnerships with Visa and Tinder
In addition to its official launch in the U.S. market, World has announced a collaboration with financial giant Visa to launch the “World Card.” This card is expected to be launched later this year in the U.S. and is limited to users who have completed verification.
The core function of the World Card is straightforward; it will be directly linked to the user’s World App digital wallet and can be used to make purchases with their digital assets at any physical or online store that accepts Visa worldwide. Merchants will receive fiat currency during transactions, with no need to understand how cryptocurrencies work.
For consumption of AI tool subscription services, the World Card will offer a higher cashback rate, with rewards sent directly to the user’s World App wallet in the form of WLD tokens.
In addition to Visa, World has also announced a collaboration with dating platform giant Match Group, leading an experiment with identity verification mechanisms on Tinder’s platform in Japan. The goal is to enhance trust in the online dating environment through the verification system, preventing the proliferation of fake accounts.

“Technology is merely a tool for connecting people, but what gives those connections meaning are the real people behind them,” said World officials. They believe that the ability to prove “real people” will become extremely important, as it forms the foundation for maintaining trust and authenticity in the online world.
